Services

To treat a cavity, Dr. Freidell will remove the decay and any old restoration from the tooth and then restore the tooth with acrylic resin to its natural function and esthetics.

Fillings can also be used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn.

Good oral hygiene - brushing at least twice a day and flossing once a day - helps reduce tooth decay.

Replacement Fillings

We are a mercury-free practice, yet many people have silver/mercury fillings in their teeth from past dentistry.

During each routine checkup, old amalgam fillings (silver/mercury) are evaluated to determine need for replacement due to structural breakdown (decay, fracture, etc.) or the personal desires of the individual patient.

New Fillings

We use acrylic resin (or tooth colored) fillings to restore chipped, worn, broken, and/or decayed teeth back to their natural function and esthetics.

The advantages of the acrylic resin fillings are not just esthetics but they are “bonded” to the tooth – strengthening the core of the tooth.

New materials and technologies are continually being advanced and studied, and Dr. Freidell constantly reevaluates and modifies these through continuing education.

Alternate Treatment

Sometimes a tooth needs a larger restoration due to excessive decay or loss of structural integrity in which case an inlay, onlay or a crown may be the best treatment.

There are always options for restoring a tooth and these options are discussed in detail with you personalizing your dental needs.
